Abstract
The research method used in the writing of this thesis is empirical legal research with a sociological juridical approach. The data source used is primary data that is data obtained directly from Investigators of Sub Directorate V of the POLDA NTT Unit Cyber, secondary data is legal material that provides instructions and explanations regarding the role of POLDA NTT cyber investigators starting from, the Law, the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, the Criminal Procedure Codebooks and journals.The role of cyber investigators in investigating criminal acts spreading hoaxes in the territory of the NTT POLDA is to carry out criminal investigation activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) contained in PERKAP Number 6 of 2019 Article 10 paragraph (1). From 2016-2018, cyber investigators have handled 27 cases of hoax distribution in which of the 27 cases there were 10 cases in SP3, 10 cases in P21 and 7 other cases were closed because the victim or reporter withdrew the report due to the reconciliation between both sides included.Conclusion: The role of cyber investigators in investigating criminal acts has been reaching a maximum point because by looking at table 4, cyber investigators have never missed any of the stages in the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) in carrying out all of their duties as cyber investigators. Based on the conclusions outlined, the researcher suggests: they must maintain their quality as investigators in carrying out their rights and obligations in accordance with the Criminal Code (KUHP), the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and PERKAP NO. 6 of 2019 concerning Criminal Investigations.
