Abstract
Material is one of the most important elements in completing project development. Almost part of the project cost is absorbed by materials. Materials play an important role in the completion of a construction project, without materials a construction project cannot be completed. However,it should be realized that the use of materials has limitations. Materials are ordered according to the needs that exist in the project. Excess orders result in cost overruns and waste that leads to the disposal of construction waste. Construction waste is one of the serious problems in the implementation of a construction project. Efforts are made to reduce the amount of waste construction material as much as possible to help increase contractor profits and reduce any environmental waste impacts. Therefore,it is necessary to carry out a serious and thorough and precise calculation in determining the amount of material required to be used in the project and an evaluation of the use of these materials must be carried out. This research was carried out on the construction project of the Faculty of Teacher Training Education (FKIP) Widya Mandira Catholic University (UNWIRA) Kupang, with a cost of 18 billion. In completing the research, the method used was interviews and direct observation to the field with the aim of seeing directly the construction implementation process that occurred and where the rest of the construction waste was. The results showed that the cost of construction waste generated was Rp. 530,378,485.00. With the biggest cost being on the purchase of timber for support of IDR. 206,142,000.00 and the smallest cost was for Batako with a value of IDR. 4,950,000.00. The recommended solution to the contractor includes used/old materials that can still be used so that they can be reused, processed into useful goods, as long as the conditions are still possible.
