Abstract

Community-based waste management, starting from awareness to management, is an option to answer the national waste reduction target. The choice of residents to participate in managing waste is a strategy for sustainability and development of waste management. The discussion and facilitation of waste management activities at the Sulamu Coast was preceded by cleaning, sorting, brand auditing waste as part of education for residents. Discussions on coastal waste management succeeded in identifying several needs that need to be encouraged and developed. Residents identify the types of waste and its dangers, the potential for waste generation from community activities and consumption, financing possibilities, facilities needed, sanctions and waste management institutions.
