Abstract

Settlements in the Dusun 1 area of East Penfui continue to grow from year to year, having a strong influence from the location of the campuses of Nusa Cendana University and Widya Mandira Catholic University. Students studying at these two campuses need temporary housing in the form of boarding houses. The construction of boarding houses affects the development of settlements and activity support in this area so that the quality of the environment and visuals is not good. The purpose of this study is to examine sustainable aspects in residential areas so that they can provide recommendations for improvements to sustainable elements that are considered lacking. The method used is descriptive qualitative by describing the existing conditions using sustainable variables on environmental, social and environmental elements. The results of this study indicate that the environmental elements of the area still do not meet the criteria for a sustainable area, so it is necessary to obtain recommendations for improvements to these elements.
