Abstract
The MDOF structure does not experience free vibration, but the discussion of free vibration on the structure of degrees of freedom is carried out in order to obtain some important and very useful structural characters. The characters are the angular frequency ω, the vibrational period T and the natural frequency of the structure. At the time of writing, the structural model reviewed was a sliding building with two degrees of freedom with regard to the conditions applied to the sliding barrier building. From the results of the analysis using mathematical calculations of eigen problems compared to the results of SAP 2000 software showed very small differences. So that through idealizing buildings with the principle of shear mode allows the use of mathematical models that are simpler.
