Abstract

This research aims to describe the learning difficulties of students in class VIIA at SMPN 8 Kupang City in the subject of data presentation, viewed from the location, type, and factors causing the students' learning difficulties. The type of research conducted is descriptive research. The research subjects are the 32 students in class VIIA at SMPN 8 Kupang City who study mathematics in the data presentation subject. The research instruments developed to collect data in this study are in the form of tests and interviews. The difficulties experienced by the students are as follows: Students have difficulty determining the intersection of horizontal and vertical axes. Students are not meticulous in solving the given problems. The results of this research are expected to contribute and serve as considerations for the world of education and mathematics learning. Here are some suggestions that the researcher can provide: 1.) For students, to continue trying to understand where the location and type of difficulties they experience in learning mathematics on the subject of data presentation. 2.) For teachers, to pay attention to the location and type of students' difficulties in learning mathematics. By knowing the location and type of difficulties in learning mathematics, teachers can strive to provide appropriate learning to minimize or overcome the difficulties experienced by students
