Abstract
The idea regarding ethnomathematics indicates relationship between mathematics and culture. As a culture inheritance sticking to students’ daily life, traditional games could become media for teaching the simple concept of arithmetic. All activities shown during the games are on will give the room for students to do the contact with sound, symbols, and meaning concerning their ability on sense of number. To design a teaching program that could help students learn mathematics basing on local culture that deal with traditional games, the teacher needs to know first the mathematics ideas found in the games. This research aims at analyzing the mathematics ideas found in the Lamaholot tribe traditional games particularly at Ile Boleng in East Adonara. The analysis wil be done by applying ethnographics method on three traditional games namely: kemoti, kayo raya, and Eda. Data will be collected by using observation and interview technique. The validity of data encountered would be checked out by triangulation. The analysis shows that: (1) kemoticould be used to help students learn to count and the least common multiple; (2) Kayo raya could be used to help students learn addition and multiplication; (3) Eda could be used to help students learn about opportunity.
