Abstract

This study purpose to determine the effect of realistic mathematics learning models on the ability to solve matheamatics of SMP. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods and one group pretest-posstest design. As for the population in this study, namely all grade VII junior high school in one state school in kupang citty. While the samples in this study were all VIIf classing totaling 30 students who were selected using a simple random sampling technique. This instrument used to measure the mathematical problem solving ability of junior high school students was in the from of essay test totaling 3 questions. The analysis technique used is the t test. The data used in the study are the prestet and the posttest value data from the experimental class taught by using the PMR model to the mathematical problem solving ability of junior high school students. Bassed on observation of the indicators, the implementation of learning using PMR on the ability to solve math problems of junior high school students is classified as very good. t test shows thitung = - 17,576 and ttabel = - 2,045 at a significant level 5% which means ha accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the realistic mathematics learning model on the ability of junior high school students mathematics problem solving.
