Abstract

To ensure legal certainty for the protection and empowerment of seaweed fishermen, the government is taking a social approach by encouraging seaweed farmers to implement best management practices that are more environmentally friendly. This is outlined in the Draft Regional Regulation of Sabu Raijua Regency on the Protection and Empowerment of Seaweed Fishermen. The reality that occurs in Sabu Raijua Regency from data obtained by researchers as many as 4,154 seaweed farmers in Sabu Raijua, almost all of them cultivate seaweed in an environmentally unfriendly or inappropriate way. By not doing seaweed cultivation with environmentally unfriendly so that it adversely affects the life of the marine ecosystem.Thus the problem raised in this research is "Protection and Empowerment of Seaweed Fishermen in Sabu Raijua Regency" and the purpose of this writing is to find out the causes of the people of Sabu Raijua district who work as seaweed fishermen cultivating seaweed in an environmentally unfriendly manner. The benefits of this writing are practical benefits are expected to provide understanding to the community especially seaweed fishermen regarding the importance of cultivating seaweed in the right way, theoretical benefits are expected to contribute ideas for the development of science and the expansion of knowledge, especially regarding the importance of environmentally friendly seaweed cultivation with the right procedures.
