Abstract

Literacy is a set of individual skills and skills in reading, writing, speaking, counting, and solving problems. The village of balaweling is one of the villages in Witihama district, East Flores district. The village has become one of the sites of the implementation of community service activities through the MBKM Project Village, the cooperation of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Sciences of the Catholic University of Widya Mandira with the government of the village. According to preliminary observations, the village is still low in literacy. There's only one school of early childhood education, one elementary school, and one primary secondary school. Looking at the situation, planned activities dedication Literacy Lapak Reading and Art Stage, to improve literacy skills of students in the scope of primary and secondary education in the village. The aim of this activity is through literacy can improve social skills, and interaction of the child with its environment. The stage of this activity consists of discussion, socialization and training. These activities can also grow and increase children's interest in reading rather than spending time playing. The program runs from April to June 2023. The number of pupils from primary and secondary schools that participated as many as 315 people. The results of the evaluation carried out after the activity, the pupils are enthusiastic about the literacy activities so, can help them to add knowledge and enhance the interests and talents of students.
