Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not there is an effect of using the Integrated Reading cooperative learning model on student achievement as well as to find out which learning model provides better problem-solving abilities between the Cooperative Integrated Reading learning model or conventional learning models. This study uses experimental research methods. The instrument used in this study was a subjective test of 2 descriptions of description questions. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The sample used in this study was 11 students of class VIII.A, with details of class VIII.A as an experimental group with 11 students, as well as a control group. In their learning, the experimental group used the Cooperative Integrated Reading learning model, while the control group used the conventional learning model. Collecting data in the study using a test technique.Normality test using Kolmogorov Smirnov, homogeneity test using Fisher method, and hypothesis testing using t test. Based on the results of the final data processing (posttest) the average value of the experimental group was 85 and the control group average was 66.63. In the test results with a significance level of 0.83.tcount = 10.269 >ttable = 6.708, this means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant effect using the Cooperative Integrated Reading learning model rather than using the conventional learning model.
