Abstract
This thesis is entitled "The Role of the West Manggarai District Tourism, Creative Economy, and Culture Office in Preserving Caci Dance Culture: A Case Study in Golo Bilas Village." The formulation of the problem in this thesis is "How does the West Manggarai District Tourism, Creative Economy, and Culture Office contribute to the preservation of Caci dance culture: A case study in Golo Bilas Village." The theories used by the researcher to solve the research problem are governance and cultural preservation. The primary data sources are informants, while secondary data consists of documents related to the research variables. Data collection techniques used include interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis stage involves data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and qualitative descriptive analysis. The research results indicate that (1) the West Manggarai District Tourism, Creative Economy, and Culture Office has been actively protecting and promoting the Caci dance culture in Golo Bilas Village. Efforts include inventorying and securing traditional costumes and properties through the Cultural Ideology Formulation Team, collaborating with village governments, cultural studios, and traditional figures. Cultural preservation is achieved by passing down traditions to the next generation through local curriculum integration in schools. Additionally, cultural festivals and regular performances are organized to revitalize cultural heritage, while intensive social media publications successfully introduce and promote Caci dance to the wider community, enhancing appreciation and understanding of local culture. (2) The establishment of the Kope Oles Todo Kongkol Cultural Studio in Golo Bilas Village reflects the community's desire to preserve their cultural heritage. The studio serves as a place to learn and practice local culture, such as Caci dance, symbolizing a commitment to preserving Golo Bilas Village's cultural identity. The West Manggarai District Tourism, Creative Economy, and Culture Office support this effort through digital promotion and cultural festival organization, enabling the studio to participate in major events and expand its audience reach. This support ensures the continued vitality of Caci dance, providing young generations with opportunities to learn traditional arts, strengthening Manggarai cultural identity, and boosting local creative economy and artist community welfare. Based on the above analysis, the author concludes that the Protection and Development of Caci Dance Culture has been effectively carried out as mandated by Law Number 5 of 2017 concerning Cultural Advancement, and its implementing regulations such as Government Regulation (PP) Number 87 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Law Number 5 of 2017 concerning Cultural Advancement, and Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 6 of 2023 concerning Amendments to Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 45 of 2018 on Guidelines for the Preparation of Cultural Ideologies in Regions.
