Abstract

East Nusa Tenggara, particularly Manggarai Regency, holds significant potential for the development of natural tourism destinations, notably Waerebo Traditional Village and Mules Island. Waerebo, often referred to as a "heaven above the clouds," has received international recognition from UNESCO for its cultural heritage conservation. The region’s natural beauty, rich local culture, and biodiversity make it a prime tourism destination. However, existing accommodations are limited to basic homestays with minimal facilities. To address this, the design of a Villa Resort is proposed as a strategic solution to support sustainable tourism. The resort is envisioned with an energy-efficient architectural approach, incorporating environmentally friendly materials and design elements that respond to the tropical climate. In addition to providing comfort for visitors, this development aims to bring social and economic benefits to the local community through the use of local resources and job creation.
