Abstract

This research aims to determine how the Tourism Office of West Manggarai Regency develops the Cunca Wulang tourist attraction. The type and approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This study adopts the Tourism Development Theory proposed by Buhalis in Shafira Fatma Chaerunissa (2020) with the following indicators: Attraction, Amenities, Ancillary, Activity, and Accessibilities. The results of the research show that the development of the Cunca Wulang tourist attraction has been carried out through various aspects in accordance with Buhalis’ theoretical indicators. In terms of attraction, Cunca Wulang has natural tourism potential such as waterfalls, cliffs, and pristine natural scenery, as well as artificial attractions like a suspension bridge. In the aspect of facilities (amenities),supporting facilities have been built such as parking areas, toilets, changing rooms, guard posts, information boards, and signposts. However, several facilities are still inadequate, although the available public facilities have greatly assisted the needs of both the community and tourists. In terms of institutional management (ancillary), the management of the tourist attraction is carried out by the Tourism Office of West Manggarai Regency in collaboration with the Village Government of Cunca Wulang and the local community. Nevertheless, community participation in tourism management remains suboptimal. In the aspect of activities, tourism activities offered include swimming, photography, and other nature-based activities. However, community involvement in developing these tourism activities is still lacking. In terms of accessibility, road access to the tourist location is considered quite good, although several parts still need improvement. Access to information regarding the tourist attraction is also fairly adequate.This research concludes that although the development of the Cunca Wulang tourist attraction has been implemented, improvements and enhancements are still needed in various aspects to establish it as a leading tourist destination in West Manggarai Regency.
