Abstract

East Manggarai district as the southern district is a coastal area which has a mangrove forest area of 9 hectares. One of the areas in East Manggarai Regency that has mangrove forests is the Cepi Watu coast, Rana Loba sub-district, Borong sub-district. Tourism is a whole series of activities related to the movement of people who travel or stop temporarily from their place of residence. The mangrove tourist area is a protected forest tourist area, and also has several special characteristics that can become a tourist destination. The special characteristics of a tourist area are related to natural resources (SDA), traditions or culture whose authenticity is still relatively well maintained. The concept of the coastal mangrove tourism area is planned and designed using the concept of mangarai vernacular architectural transformation, the word architectural transformation is a combination of the words trans meaning transfer from one place to another; while the word formation means arrangement or form. Thus, the meaning of the word transformation is the activity of changing the shape/arrangement or the process of changing shape. In general, transformation can be viewed from two aspects, change and transfer. Exaggerations, Eliminations, and Modifications. Architectural transformation is used as an approach in designing the Cepi Watu Borong beach mangrove tourist area. This approach is applied to sites and buildings so that they can present an impression that is in accordance with the function and aesthetics being designed.
