Abstract
Tau Nuhu dance or known as war dance, is a traditional dance that depicts the glory and courage of the Krowe Knights who are one of the tribes that inhabit the Sikka region. This dance was inherited by the ancestors as a means of ritual respect and asking for safety in war. The footwork movements that are the core of Tau Nuhu symbolize the long and challenging journey that the knights went through. The problems raised in this study are (1) How is the Tau Nuhu Dance Presentation Form, (2) What is the symbolic meaning of the Tau Nuhu dance movements. The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze and describe the form of Tau Nuhu dance presentation at the Bliran Sina Watublapi Studio, Hewokloang District, Sikka Regency, (2) to analyze and describe the symbolic meaning of the movements contained in the Tau Nuhu dance at the Bliran Sina Watublapi Studio, Hewokloang District, Sikka Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic research methods. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the presentation of the Tau Nuhu dance is accompanied by gong waning music and additional bamboo strikes. Gong waning and bamboo strikes are struck rhythmically, creating a pattern of slow and fast strikes that test the dancer's ability to adapt. Dance movements, dynamic accompanying musical rhythms and variations in bamboo strikes are the main attraction of this dance. In the Tau Nuhu dance there are several acts presented, namely the Awi Alu dance, Mage Mot dance, Gere Alu dance, Tua Reta Lo'u dance and the final act is the Lori Lolo dance. The traditional clothing used is that women wear utang (women's sarong), labu (clothes), kalar (bracelets), while men wear lipa (men's sarong) and kalar (bracelets). Tau Nuhu movements have deep meaning for the Watublapi community. The movement of jumping between the gaps in the bamboo: dexterity, agility in avoiding danger. The movement of inserting the head into the gap in the bamboo: self-protection from enemies. Balance movements on neck-high bamboo: self-control and physical endurance. The commander's movement rotates on a bamboo pole: comprehensive supervision and the ability to guard from all directions. Movement back and forth to the front and rear: the return journey of soldiers and commanders from the battlefield safely and without haste.
