Abstract
Odale songs are songs that contain traditional verses that tell the story of expressing gratitude for a bountiful harvest. Odale songs are sung during the Doka Guru ceremony. The Doka Guru ceremony is a traditional ritual of the Riangkotek Village community that marks the end of the harvest period, which is the process of storing rice in a barn (keba). In this ceremony, Odale singing has a central role as a procession accompaniment, a means of cultural expression, and a spiritual medium in conveying gratitude, respect for the Goddess of Rice (Tonu Wujo), and hope for the welfare of the community. The problems raised in this research are 1). What is the presentation form of Odale singing in Doka Guru ceremony in Riangkotek Village, Lewolema Sub-district, East Flores Regency? 2). What is the meaning of Odale singing in Doka Guru ceremony in Riangkotek Village, Lewolema Sub-district, East Flores Regency? This study aims to describe how the presentation form of Odale singing and the expression of meaning contained in it. The approach used is qualitative with ethnographic method. The technique of obtaining data through observation, interviews and documentation. The analysis technique is done through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that Odale songs are sung responsorially by three main vocal elements, namely pakat (lead singer), lia (response singer), and hodi (joint chorus filler). The song describes the stages of the ceremony from the collection of rice in the garden (ori), delivery to the village, to the storage of rice in the lumbung. The poetry in the Odale song also has meaning, namely as an expression of gratitude from the Riangkotek village community for the harvest and hope for the sustainability of life.
