Abstract

This thesis is entitled “Analysis of the Factors Influencing Poverty in Nenotes Village, Santian District, South Central Timor Regency.” The research problem addressed is: what are the factors that influence poverty in Nenotes Village, Santian District, South Central Timor Regency? The purpose of this study is to identify the causes of poverty in Nenotes Village. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through interviews with 10 informants consisting of local residents and community leaders. The study is framed using the theory of welfare to understand the socio-economic conditions of the village community. The findings indicate that poverty in Nenotes Village is caused by two main factors: structural and cultural. Structural factors include policies that are not pro- people, income inequality, limited employment opportunities, and an uneven economic structure. Cultural factors involve a consumerist lifestyle, low levels of education, high school dropout rates, and a lack of public awareness to improve their well-being. Efforts to reduce poverty in Nenotes Village can be undertaken by improving the quality of education and providing skills training for the community. The government needs to create broader job opportunities and support the development of productive local enterprises. Furthermore, there must be encouragement for the community to shift their mindset toward self-reliance and a focus on improving their standard of living.
