Abstract
This study is entitled “Improving The Senior High School Students’ Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text Through Question-Answer Relationship Strategy. The study aims to determine whether the QAR strategy can improve the senior high school students' understanding of narrative text at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 9 Kupang. The method used in this research was classroom action research developed by Kemmis and McTaggart (1998). The subjects of this research were students of class X-A SMA Negeri 9 Kupang. The instruments used were pre-test, post-test, questionnaires and observation sheet. The results show that the QAR strategy improved the senior high school students' reading comprehension of narrative text at the tenth grade SMA Negeri 9 Kupang academic year 2024/2025. The QAR strategy helped students to actively discuss the answers to QARs’ questions with their peers and presented them in front of the class. This effect the students’ results in the test which increased considerably from the pre-test to the second post-test. In pre-test, only 3 or 11.11% of students passed the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) and the mean score was 61.66. Meanwhile, in post-test 1, 17 or 62.69% of students passed the KKM and the mean score was 70. In post-test 2, 22 or 81.48% of students passed the KKM and the mean score of post-test 2 was 80.15, which means it achieved the criteria of success.
