Abstract

Learning motivation is a driving force that encourages a person to take actions aimed at achieving certain goals. A person can obtain good learning outcomes if there is a desire within themselves to learn. The discovery learning approach is a learning method that emphasizes the process of discovery, aiming to develop students' active learning. The main objectives of this research are: (1) To determine the effectiveness of learning by applying the discovery learning approach to the colloid system topic for Grade XI MIA 2 students at SMAN 1 Adonara Barat in the 2024/2025 academic year. (2) To identify the learning motivation of students in learning that applies the discovery learning approach to the colloid system topic for Grade XI MIA 2 students. (3) To determine whether there is a relationship between learning motivation and student learning outcomes when using the discovery learning approach in the colloid system topic. (4) To determine whether there is an influence of learning motivation on learning outcomes in learning that applies the discovery learning approach. This research is descriptive and associative. The sample consisted of 26 students from Grade XI MIA 2 of SMAN 1 Adonara Barat. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, questionnaires, and tests. Based on data analysis, the results obtained were: (1) Learning using the discovery learning approach is effective, as shown by:(a) the teacher's ability to manage learning falls into the good category, (b) completeness in cognitive and skill aspects is achieved with a score of 85, and (c) indicator completeness for cognitive aspects reaches 0.95 and skill aspects reach 0.90. (2) Students' learning motivation is categorized as strong. (3) There is a relationship between learning motivation and students' learning outcomes when applying the discovery learning approach. (4) There is an influence of learning motivation on students' learning outcomes when applying the discovery learning approach.
