Abstract

This thesis is entitled The meaning of the Hase Hawaka traditional exclamation (greeting) for receiving guests in the Raihat sub-district, Belu Regency, by Selviani Aek Mau (17120134) with supervisor 1 Mrs. Margareta S.Pd., M.Pd. and supervisor 2 Mr. Agustinus R.A Elu S.Pd., M.Pd. The Hase Hawaka call originates from Tohe Village, Raihat Subdistrict, Belu Regency. The Hase Hawaka tradition (greeting) is practiced by the people of Tohe Village during a traditional ritual of welcoming guests. The Hase Hawaka is recited by a Makaon (the speaker). The issues addressed in this research are: How is the Hase Hawaka (greeting) traditional ceremony conducted during the guest reception, and what is the meaning of the Hase Hawaka traditional call in the context of welcoming guests in Tohe Village, Raihat Subdistrict, Belu Regency? The purpose of this research is to understand the process of the Hase Hawaka traditional ceremony for guest reception and to uncover the meaning contained within the Hase Hawaka call in the welcoming of guests in Tohe Village, Raihat Subdistrict, Belu Regency. This study adopts a qualitative approach using ethnographic research methods. Data collection techniques include interviews and documentation. The results show that the Hase Hawaka call serves as a greeting of welcome, respect, and acceptance towards guests visiting the village.
