Abstract

This research is entitled The Role of the Village Government as a Mobilizer in the Development of the Mekko Beach Tourist Attraction in Pledo Village, Witihama District, East Flores Regency. The problem raised is the role of village government in developing tourist attractions. The aim of this research is to describe the role of the village government as a mobilizer in developing the Meko Beach tourist attraction and to find supporting and inhibiting factors in efforts to develop the Meko Beach tourist attraction. The benefit of this research is to increase knowledge and in-depth understanding of the role of village government in efforts to develop tourist attractions. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Samples are determined by technique purposive sampling. The types of data used are primary and secondary data. Data were analyzed qualitatively to describe the role of the village government as a mobilizer in developing the Mekko Beach tourist attraction. The research results show that the Pledo village government has carried out its role as a mobilizer, namely by allocating a budget and involving the community in efforts to develop tourist attractions. In developing Meko beach tourism, the village government is faced with the problem of low human resources and minimal village budget. POKDARWIS's low level of human resources in managing funds and its inability to take responsibility for the management and development of tourist attractions has resulted in an empty budget for developing the Mekko Beach tourist attraction in 2023 and 2024. Researchers recommend that the Pledo village government provide training to the community and tourist attraction management groups (POKDARWIS). The training is carried out with the aim of ensuring that managers understand their duties and responsibilities as beach managers and how to maintain the sustainability and continuity of Mekko beach tourism.
