Abstract

Contextual approach is learning concept that is used by the teacher to assosiate material with the real world so that this concept learners can find and experience their own material learned that relates to real world situations so that they can encourage them to apply it in their lives as family members, resident couuntry, and labor. The main problem in this study is 1.) how the result of the appllication of the contextual approach to the subject matter of optical devices for students class VIII F even of junior high school 3 kupang akademic year 2017/2018, 2.) how is the completeness of learning outcomes indicators by applying the contextual approach to the subject matter of optical devices for students class VIII F even of junior high school 3 kupang akademic year 2017/2018, 3.) how to complete the learning outcomes of students by applying the contextual approach to the subject matter of optical devices for students class VIII F even of junior high school 3 kupang akademic year 2017/2018, 4) how the students respond to learning activities by applying a contextual approach to the subject matter of optical devices for students class VIII F even of junior high school 3 kupang akademic year 2017/2018. This type of research is descriptive research and the subjects of this research are 26 students in class VIII F even of junior high school 3 kupang akademic year 2017/2018 and teacher (researcher). Learning tools used are syllabus, learning implementation plans, learning materials for students, worksheets of students, grids and tests of learning outcomes. The techniqui used to collect data in this study are observation, test, and, quistionnaires. The instruments used in this study were learning management observation sheets, learning outcome tests, and student respond sheets. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis which included calculating the average score, percentage, and proportion. Based on the results of descriptive data analysis, the method of using a contextual approach is optimal, namely management of learning with a score of the average completeness of cognitive tests is 0,76, affective learning outcomes is 0,94, psychomotor learning outcomes is 0,97, and response of students is 87,68% for optical devices for 26 students class VIII F of junior high school 3 kupang akademic year 2017/2018.
