Abstract

Furthermore, the main question breaks down into four Specific questions as follows: 1) What is teacher's level of ability in terms of managing learning activities by applying a guided inquiry approach for teaching heat and its transfer? 2) What is the score for achievement of students’ learning outcome indicators as an impact of applying the guided inquiry approach for teaching the topic “heat and its transfer”? 3) What is the score for student learning outcomes achievement by applying a guided inquiry approach in teaching the topic “heat and its transfer”? 4) What is the score for students’ response to learning activities by applying a guided inquiry approach for teaching the topic “heat and its transfer”? The main objective in this study is to describe the results of applying the guided inquiry approach for teaching the topic “heat and its transfer” to VII B students of Adhyaksa 2 Junior High School in the school year 2018/2019. Besides, this study specifically aims at: 1) Describing the teacher's level of ability in managing learning activities by applying a guided inquiry for teaching the topic “ heat and its transfer”. 2) Describing the achievement of student learning outcomes indicators as an impact of applying the guided inquiry approach for teaching the topic “heat and its transfer”. 3) Describing the students’ learning outcomes as an impact of applying the guided inquiry approach for teaching the topic “heat and its transfer”. 4) Describing the students’ response to the learning activities with the guided inquiry approach for teaching the topic “heat and its transfer”. This is a descriptive study. The subject of this study are a teacher (researcher) and 18 VII B students of Adhyaksa 2 Junior High School in the school year 2018/2019. The learning tools used are Student Learning Materials (BAPD), Syllabus, Lesson Plans , Student Worksheets, Grids and Learning Outcomes Test (THB). The techniques used to collect data in this study were observation, tests, and questionnaires. The instruments used in this study were Learning Management Observation Sheet, Learning Outcomes Test and Student Response Sheet. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis by calculating the average value, percentage, and proportion. The result of the analysis show that the use of the guided inquiry approach is effective for teaching the topic “heat and its transfer to VII B students of Adhyaksa 2 Junior High School in the school year 2018/2019. In detail as follows: (1) The mean score for teacher’s ability to manage learning activities by applying a guided inquiry approach (which includes: planning, implementation and evaluation) are: 3.98; 3.87; and 4.00. (2) The scores of achievement for Learning Outcomes Indicator (product, affective and psychomotor) are 0.94; 0.92; 0.93. ( 3) The scores for Students learning outcomes (product, affective and psychomotor) of physics are 0.92; 0.92; and 0.93. (4) The students’ response to the overall aspects of learning implementation gets an average score of 93.74%.
