Abstract

The importance of education, the government in this case the Ministry of National Education has made various efforts to improve the quality of education. For example curriculum renewal, teacher quality improvement, textbook procurement, procurement and improvement of learning facilities and infrastructure and various businesses that lead to the achievement of maximum teaching/education results. But in reality there are still many problems that arise in the field of education, where low student learning outcomes.One learning model that can answer this challenge is the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This model is believed to be able to teach students to be actively involved directly in the learning process because students will be guided and required to find and find problems themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of Problem Based Learning Model on the Learning Outcomes of Grade VIII Students of the Human Motion System at SMPK AdisuciptoPenfuiKupang Academic Year 2018/2019. The type of research used is quasi-experimental. The research design used is Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Data is collected through observation and tests. Data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis, inferential analysis, and covariate analysis (anakova). The average research results show that the value of student learning outcomes after being treated by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is 80.2 while direct learning is 77.8. The results of this study indicate the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes with the results of the analysis of the calculated F value of both learning models is equal to 8.053 with a significance value of 0.007 or less than 0.05. With the mean value of learning outcomes students who applied the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model were significantly higher at 83,372% when compared to students who were taught with the direct learning model of 78,964%. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and direct learning on the learning outcomes of class VIII students in the subject matter of the motion system for humans in PenfuiKupang SMPK Adisucipto in the 2018/2019 school year, and there are differences in scores between the two groups.
