Abstract

Spring is one of the natural resources found in the Mutis Nature Reserve. Spring fuctions as a water source for living things that exist in the area of nature reserve and for humans who live around it. So, it is very important to maintain the quality of spring. Arthropod diversity can act as an indicator of spring quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the abundance and diversity of arthropods around springs and water bodies, as well as the influence of abiotic factors on the abundance and diversity of arthropods around springs and water bodies. The method used in this research was an exploratory method by ploting 6 plots that measure 2m x 2m at each location i.e. the Lipan spring (station I) and the Padang Satu water body (Station II). Arthropod sampling was taken by using yellow pan trap, pitfall trap and insect net. The collected samples later were identified and analyzed with Shannon-Wiener diversity index, Richness index, Important Value Index, Evenness Index, and Jaccard Similarity Index. Linear regression analysis was applied to determine the effect of abiotic factors on arthropod diversity. The results revealed that there were 18 species of arthropods consisting of 71 individuals 16 families of 10 orders and 3 classes which are found in Station I. While at station 2, the reseacrher found 12 species that consisted of 53 individuals, 10 families, 6 orders and 2 classes. The arthropod diversity index at both stations was classified as moderate (H '= 2,078 and 1,908). The arthropod species wealth index at both locations was also classified as moderate (Dmg = 3.988 and 3.274). Station I was dominated by Componotus nearticus (INP = 54%), while Station II was dominated by Mycterus quadricollis (INP = 58.09%). The species evenness index at both stations showed even distribution (E = 0.719; E = 0.768). The jaccard species similarity index for the two fields showed similarity between 30% low habitats (Cj close to 0). The jaccard species similarity index for both fields showed similarities between low habitats of 0.3 (30%) (Cj approaches 0). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that abiotic factors significantly influence the abundance and diversity of arthropods (Sig <0.05).
