Abstract
The purpose of this study was to isolate tannin compounds and determine tannin levels from the leaves of the Bauhinia purpurea L.. This research was conducted using the Uv-Vis extraction, centrifugation and spectrophotometry methods. A total of 100 grams of leaf powder Bauhinia purpurea L was macerated with methanol solvent and methanol extract was obtained. Phytochemical test results show that methanol extract positively contains alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids and tannins. Isolation of tannin compounds was carried out by precipitating the methanol filtrate and centrifuged at a rotational speed of 1000 rpm for ± 30 minutes, added with KH2PO4 2 M to form a precipitate. The results of the analysis used Uv-Vis spectrophotometry with absorption at a wavelength of 230 nm. Results Determination of tannin content using Uv-Vis spectrophotometry with gallic acid comparison standard to determine the maximum wavelength (λmax) of 767 nm. Based on the results of spectropometric analysis of Uv-Vis isolates extract samples suspected to contain tannin compounds, with tannin content of 0.58367%
