Abstract

This study was conducted in order to answer the following questions:(1).Are the eleventh gradestudents of SMAN 1Kupang in the school year 2019/2020 able to use possessivepronouns? (2). what is the ability level of the eleventh grade studentsof SMAN 1 KUPANG in the school year 2019/2020 in using possessivepronouns? (3). whatare the areasof difficulties faced bythe eleventh grade studentsof SMAN 1Kupangin the school year 2019/2020 in using possessivepronouns?Themain objectives of this study are as follows :(1)tofind out whether or not the eleventhgrade students of SMAN 1 Kupang in the school year 2019/2020able to use possessivepronouns.(2)to find out the ability level of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Kupangin the school yerar 2019/2020 in using possessivepronouns. (3).to find out the area of difficulties faced by the eleventh grade studentsof SMAN 1 Kupang in the school year 2019/2020 in using possessivepronouns.In this study the writer used descriptive method in order to analyze and describe the ability level of theeleventh grade students of SMAN 1Kupang in the school year 2019/2020 in using possessivepronouns.The respondents of this study were 20 students. The instrument that the writer used for gathering the data was the test. The test consisted of 50 test items, divided into two types namely: 45 test items were multiple choice and 5test items wereCompleting test. The result of the data analysis shows that (1).theeleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Kupang in the school year 2019/2020were not able to use possessivepronouns.(2).the ability level of eleventhgrade students of SMAN 1 Kupang in the school year 2019/2020 was” BELOW AVERAGE’’(52.9),(3)and thedifficult areas faced by the students were(1).Difficulties to differentiatethe use of possessive pronouns especially in completing the sentences, because there were most of students still found the difficulties in completing the sentences by using it.(2) some students still errors in completing the sentences of possesive pronouns. Based on the data analysis the writer would like to suggest that: (1)The teacher should teach and give more explanation to the students how to use possessive pronouns specially for completing the sentences. And the teacher should teach and give more exercises to the students how to differentiate and use the possessive pronouns in sentences. (2)Students should learn and do more exercises about the use of possessive pronouns, so that they will be able to differentiate the useand possessive pronouns especially to complete the sentences.
