Abstract

This research was written by Sunarti Balik Johan Pora (311 16 083) Economic Development Study Program, supervisor I Br. Salomon Leki, SE, M.Ec.Dev and Enike II supervisor Tje Yustin Dima, SE, ME with the title "The Effect of Income Levels and Education Levels of Parents on the Awareness of Schooling Children in Nuanaga Village, Kotabaru District, Ende Regency". The reason the researchers conducted this study was because the researchers saw that in Nuanaga Village the level of education and income of parents was still very low. The problem is because the level of income and education level of parents is low so that many children in Nuanaga Village do not go to school or do not continue their education to a higher level because of family economic problems. The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) the effect of the level of income of parents on the awareness of sending children to school in Nuanaga Village, Kotabaru District, Ende Regency. (2) the influence of parents' education level on the awareness of sending their children to school in Nuanaga Village, Kotabaru District, Ende Regency. (3) the influence between the level of income and education on the awareness of sending children to school in Nuanaga Village, Kotabaru District, Ende Regency. The analytical method used is descriptive qualitative, which is an analysis that seeks to describe or provide an overview or explanation of the object under study through existing data, without conducting analysis and making conclusions that apply to the public. The data used are primary and secondary data. Data collection used in this study was a questionnaire or questionnaire with a population of 52 households and a sample of 46 households in Nuanaga Village. The results of the study showed that the level of income and education level of parents had an influence on the awareness of sending children to school. The better or higher the level of income and education of parents, the higher the awareness of sending their children to school. Vice versa, the lower the level of income and education of parents, the lower the awareness of parents to send their children to school. This is reinforced by the opinion of Dwiningrum (2011: 266) which states that "For parents whose level of secondary education and above helps children's learning at home compared to parents with less educat Based on the results of this study, it is recommended for parents to pay more attention to children's education by trying to further improve the economic level in the family so that they are able to support their children's education. It is recommended for the government to build schools free of charge for underprivileged children to remote areas so that they can continue their education.
