Abstract
It was conducted in order to answer the following questions: (1) What are the kinds of errors committed by the eleven grade students of SMAN 2 Kupang in the school year 2019/ 2020 in writing descriptive text? 2) What is the most common error committed by the eleven grade students of SMAN 2 Kupang in the school year 2019 /2020 in writing descriptive text? while the objective of the study are (1) To find out the kinds of errors committed by the eleven grade students of SMAN 2 Kupang in writing descriptive text. (2) To find out the most common error in writing descriptive text committed by the eleven grade students of SMAN 2 Kupang. This study was carried out to analyze and to classify the types and the sources of student’s grammatical errors in writing descriptive paragraph. Besides, the purpose of this study was to find out their frequency of in writing descriptive. The data were collected through test. The result of the error analysis process showed that students committed error into four types: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. From the frequency of each error types, misordering was the error which most frequently produced by the students. It took 57.8% of the total errors. Moreover, 36.8% errors fell into error of omission and 5.26% errors fell into misformation. whereas, for addition 0 %.
