Abstract

Phytochemical screening is a preliminary test to determining the secondary metabolites that have biological activity in a plant. Turmeric is a tropical plant that is abudance in the Asian continent which is extensively used as a food coloring agent and fragrance. Ginger is a spice plant that originated from South Asia, and now has spread throughout the world. Coconut is an annual plant, has a hard stem and is generally not branched (monopodial), rooted in fibers, coconut water is clear and sweet, young coconut water has benefits such as antibacterial, beauty, as isotonic, facilitates urination. Young coconut water is also widely used by people in Indonesia as an ingredient for treating fever and motion sickness. The physicochemical properties and secondary metabolite content, of the combination extract coconut water, ginger and turmeric is not know. So this research was conducted to obtain information of physicochemical properties and secondary metabolite compounds. This research of method conducted by the mixing ginger mashed in to the coconut water. Extracts produced by maceration methods will be used to determine physicochemical properties (solubility) and identify of the secondary metabolites exc (flavonoids, Tanins, saponins and steroids triterpenoids). Based on the research data: (1) The extract combination of coconut water, ginger and turmeric has agood solubility on 70% ethanol concentration. (2) Combined extracts of coconut water, ginger and turmeric contain secondary metabolites of flavonoid compounds, Tanins, saponins and triterpenoids.
