Abstract
A scientific approach is a learning process that is designed so that students actively construck concepts, laws, or principles through observing, formulating problems, proposing or formulating hypotheses, collecting data with various techniques, analyzing data, drawing conclusions and communicating.This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of a scientific approachto learning in the subject matter of Thermochemistry SMA Negeri 9 Kupang based on the practice of field experience (PPL).The research type used is descriptive qualitative. The sample in this study is students of class XI IPA III SMA Negeri 9 Kupang in the academic year 2019/2020 totaling 34people. The effectiveness of the scientific approach can be seen from the results of student learning outcomes obtained from the value of the task and teks. The results of the study found that the scientific approach can improve student learning outcomes as evidenced by the value of the task and the value of tests that meet the Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM).
