Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are the ability of students to communicate mathematics systematically and can be understood about a mathematical problem and its solution both verbally and in writing. This paper aims to examine the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students from learning styles and gender. Whether or not an learning goal has been achieved can be considered from the results of the study. While the learning outcomes themselves are related to how the teacher understands students, especially their characteristics. In this case the author takes the learning style as one of the characteristics of students where students are a combination of absorbing processes, then organizing and processing information. Learning styles thatexist in each individual are also influenced by gender. Based on previous research that has been done, it can be concluded that the teaching and learning process is basically a communication activity because in the learning process, between the teacher and students are involved in the process of delivering messages, using media, and receiving messages. The learning style is a different way of learning that is owned by the child. Each individual has a different learning style. While gender is the difference between men and women caused by socio-cultural values that are different according to the environment and change with time are distinguished by natural and permanent nature.
