Abstract

It was done to answer the questions:(1)What is the linguistic structure of emotion expressions in Bunaq language in Lamaknen subdistrict, Belu regency? (2) What are the meanings of emotion expressions expressed in Bunaq language? The objectives of the study are: (1) To identify and describe the linguistic structure of emotion expressions in Bunaq language. (2) To find out the meaning are expressed in linguistic expressions of emotion in Bunaq language. The method used in this study was descriptive method to describe the procedures to conduct the study and the data are primary and qualitative. The instrument used to collect the data was given in the form of questionnaire to the informants. To answer the questionnaire, informants (5 native speakers) were asked to list the emotion expressions in Bunaq language spoken in Lamaknen- Belu regency. As the result of the study the writer obtained: (1) The linguistic structures of emotion expression such as noun, verb, adjective, compound, possessive, exclamation words, intensifier,adverbs, reduplications, prepositions in Bunaq language. (2) There are words in emotion expressions sentences which do not have the original meanings but also have idioms in emotion expressions. The writer suggested: (1) To the Bunaq language learners, to pay attention to the structures of the language in learning process. (2) To the Bunaq language speakers that they should use the proper words in emotion expressions, and not to use bad words or vulgar words especially when a speaker compares someone to animals such as a dog in anger, disappointment, or disgusts because of breaking the law in society.
