Abstract
The objectives of this study are to find the types of error that the students made, and to explain the most frequent errors made by students in writing their analytical exposition text. The types of error in this study are divided into four categories; omission, addition, misformation and misordering. In this study, the researcher used descriptive method to describe students’ errors and analyzed the data. The data were taken from writing test focused on students’ exposition texts writing. The subject of this study is the eleventh grade students’ of SMA Negeri 3 Kupang. The findings showed that there are some errors made by the students. After recapitulating the data, the researcher found the students made omission (25 errors or 24.27 %), errors of addition (15 errors or 14.56%), errors of misformation (52 errors or 50.48%) and errors of misordering (11 errors or 10.67%). The conclusion of this study is the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Kupang still make all of the types of error in writing analytical exposition text; omission, addition, misformation, misordering. The most frequent error that students made is the error of misformation (52 errors or 50.48%), then it is followed by the error of omission (25 or 24.27 %), the next is the error of addition (15 errors or 14.56 %), and errors of misordering (11 errors or 10.67%).
