Abstract

This research aimed to know the effect of Guided Discovery Method in increasing the students’ mathematical problem solving ability at Triangular subject matter toward seventh grade students of SMP N 10 Kupang. The type of this research was quantitative with applying pre-experimental design. The population in this research was all of the seventh graders of SMP N 10 Kupang that consisted of 35 students. The samples were from Class VIID that consisted of 30 students, randomly selected from 5 existed classes. The data were premier data namely students’ mathematical problem solving ability tests. Data analysis technique used was T-test results. T-test results showed that tcount = 27,033 and ttable = 2,045 at a significant level 5% which means that tcount = 27,033>2,045 = table. Therefore, H0 was refused and Ha was accepted. Hence, a conclusion could be drawn that there was a significant effect in using Guided Discovery Method in increasing the students’ Mathematical problem solving ability.
