Abstract

The Nusaklain area is an evergreen forest and the highest point in Rote with an altitude of 397 masl. There are three different types of habitat, namely Nonotodale production forest, former village (Ingulai forest), and mamar which can provide food for various bird species. Management of this area is limited to maintaining habitat and managing tree species, but there is no management of bird species. Hunting activity in the Nusaklain area is also very high, so it can threaten the survival of bird species. Research on bird species diversity in the Nusaklain area was conducted to determine the diversity of bird species in the Nusaklain area and the relationship between bird species diversity and tree species. This study uses the IPA (Index Point Of Abundance) method for data collection on bird species and the quadrant method (sample plots) for data collection on tree species. The results showed that there were 29 species from 19 bird families and 42 species from 21 tree families in the Nusaklain area. The highest diversity of bird species is at station I with a value of H '= 2.380, followed by station III with a value of H' = 1.853, and station II with a value of H '= 1.598. The species diversity (H ') of birds at three stations was in the bad to moderate category. The results of the analysis of the relationship between bird species diversity and tree species showed that tree species diversity had no significant effect on bird species diversity (sig> 0.05). The conclusion in this study is that the level of bird species diversity at the three stations in the Nusaklain area is classified as poor to moderate and has an insignificant relationship with tree species. The results of this study are expected to be a source of information for the management, preservation and protection of birds in the Nusaklain area.
