Abstract

The problems studied in this thesis are (1)why assertive training through group guidance is used to increase individual assertive behavior, (2) how is the process of applying assertive training through group guidance to increase individual assertive behavior and (3) whether assertive training through group guidance is effective for increase in individual assertive behavior. The purpose of writing this thesis is (1) knowing the reasons for using assertive training through group guidance to increase individual assertive behavior, (2) knowing the process of implementing assertive training through group guidance to increase individual assertive behavior and (3) knowing the effectiveness of assertive training through group guidance for increase in individual assertive behavior. The writing of this thesis uses the literature study method. The type of data used is qualitative data. The object of study in this thesis is about assertive training, group guidance, and assertive behavior. Assertive training is a technique that can be given to individuals who are less assertive because assertive training is useful for helping individuals who are unable to express negative or positive feelings. The process of implementing assertive training in increasing assertive behavior is carried out through eight stages, namely identification of conditions that cause problems, rational strategies, distinguishing assertive and non-assertive behavior, exploring targets, playing roles, providing feedback and providing better behavior models, carrying out exercises and practices, repeating exercises, homework and follow-up and termination. The process of implementing assertive training is effective in increasing assertive behavior, this is supported by articles of previous research which have proven that after being given treatment using assertive training techniques, there is an increase in the assertive behavior of research subjects. In this study, the authors provide suggestions to: a) Readers to make more efforts to improve their knowledge, understanding, and skills in implementing assertive exercises to increase assertive behavior b) For counseling teachers to deepen their knowledge and improve their skills in applying assertive exercises to increase assertive behavior c) The author is to better understand the process of implementing assertive training to increase assertive behavior
