Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing which essential oils from plants contain 1,8-cineole compounds and also to provide scientific information to the public regarding alternative treatments for other plants that produce 1,8-cineole compounds, which are thought to be antiviral COVID-19. The research method used is literature study. The results of this study obtained 87 types of plants containing 1,8-cineole compounds. The content of 1,8-cineole compounds in various plants has varying levels. The highest levels were found in the Myrtaceae family with levels of 86.51%. Levels of 1,8-cineole compounds above 50% are found in several families such as the Lamiaceae, Lauraceae and Myrtaceae families. Other data obtained is that different plant parts contain different compounds and levels. The different methods of essential oil distillation resulted in different levels of 1,8-cineole compounds.
