Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of water content on the heating value and type of briquettes better based on water content and heat value. The research method used is library research. Organic material briquettes which include coconut shells, candlenut shells, corn cobs, rice husks, sawdust and other organic materials can be made through stages from the carbonization stage to charcoal, sifting, mixing, mixing ingredients with adhesives, printing, and drying. Organic quality briquettes with better quality are briquettes with lower water content and high heating value including coconut shells with a water content of 3.77 %, calorific value of 5,600 cal/g, corn cobs with a water content of 2.79 %, calorific value 6000 cal/g, candlenut shell with 2.42 % water content, 5000 cal / g calorific value, laban wood powder with 3.49 % moisture content, 6.356 cal/g calorific value and oil palm shell with 2.92 % moisture content , heating value 7,021 cal/g. Previous results from previous researchers indicate that water content is very influential on the quality of briquettes. The higher the water content in the briquettes, the lower the quality of the briquettes.
