Abstract

Scientific information about the reagent of Mg2+ ions and Ca2+ ions, collected and studies, including the degreeof dissociation of the reagents and Ksp from the precipitated stages of Mg2+ ions and Ca2+ ions formed. The results of the study found that there were seven types of reagents compounds which can precipitate Mg2+ ions and Ca2+ ions namely Ammonium Carbonate [(NH4)2CO3], Natrium Oxalate (Na2C2O4), Natrium Carbonate (Na2CO3), Natrium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3), Calcium Hydroxide [Ca(OH)2], Barium Hydroxide [Ba(OH)2], and Natrium Hydroxide (NaOH). The seven types of reagent compounds that are often used, namely Ca(OH)2 and Na2CO3. It is because these two compounds has several advantages over other compounds, are (1) Easy to adjust, (2) Has a higher degree of dissociation, 1.00 and 7×10-1 respectively is two other reagents, (3) The precipitate that is formed Mg(OH)2, MgCO3, MgC2O4, Ca(OH)2, CaCO3, CaC2O4 have low Ksp values, respectively 1×10-1, 3×10-1, 9×10-5, 7.9×10-6, 5×10-9, 2×10-9 (4) Effect of the names ion of Ca(OH)2.
