Abstract

The problems discussed in this thesis are why symbolic modeling techniques need to be used to improve students assertive behavior how is the process of using symbolic modeling techniques to improve students' assertive behavior and whether symbolic modeling techniques are effective in increasing students' assertive behavior. The purpose of writing a thesis is to find out the reasons for using symbolic modeling techniques to improve students' assertive behavior, to know the process of using symbolic modeling techniques to improve students' assertive behavior and to find out the effectiveness of symbolic modeling techniques to improve students' assertive behavior. Writing this thesis uses the literature study method of studying books,managing articles of previous research results related to the topic being studied. The type of data used is qualitative data, that is, the authors review information from books and articles from previous research, and analyze the data presented in the form of words and not numbers.The object of study in this thesis is about symbolic modeling techniques and assertive behavior.The results of the study in this thesis show that symbolic modeling techniques need to be given to students who are less assertive because symbolic modeling techniques are useful in helping students to be able to express feelings and thoughts both positive and negative to others openly and honestly while respecting others and without violate the rights of others. The process of using symbolic modeling techniques to increase assertive behavior is carried out through 5 stages, namely rational strategies,giving good behavior models, carrying out exercises and practices,homework,evaluation and reinforcement.The results of the study and analysis in this thesis prove that symbolic modeling techniques are effective in improving students'assertive behavior, this is supported by articles of previous research results which have proven that after being given treatment using symbolic modeling techniques,there is an increase in assertive behavior in research subjects.Therefore, the authors provide suggestions to: 1.Readers:to make more efforts to improve knowledge, insight, understanding, and skills about the topics studied in the thesis using symbolic modeling techniques to improve student assertive behavior. 2.The guidance and counseling teachers: are expected to further deepen knowledge and improve the skills of using symbolic modeling techniques to improve students' assertive behavior.
