Abstract
This research is a qualitative descriptive study. This study uses qualitative data which then describes the data to produce a clear and detailed picture of students' logical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems. Data collection techniques used are written tests and interviews. The data from the written tests and interviews were analyzed based on indicators of logical thinking ability, namely the coherence of thinking, the ability to argue and draw conclusions. Based on the math scores on the report card, students were grouped into 3 groups, namely students with high, medium and low math abilities, which was then taken 1 student from each level of math ability to be given a written test and then interviewed. From the results of data analysis, it was found that students with high mathematical abilities were able to meet the three indicators of logical thinking ability, while students with moderate mathematical abilities were only able to meet the indicators of logical thinking ability at the stage of thinking coherence, while students with low mathematical abilities had not been able to meet the three indicators of logical thinking ability. Given the importance of logical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems, teachers should try to improve students' logical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems by increasing the frequency of giving questions related to problem solving in teaching and learning activities.
