Abstract

The aims of this study were 1) To find out the description of broiler breeders in Taebenu District, Kupang Regency. 2) To find out the comparison of income earned by broiler chicken farmers before and during Covid-19 in Taebenu District, Kupang Regency. Data collection methods used are interviews and observation. Interviews were conducted using a list of questions that had been prepared, the data sources in this study were primary data and secondary data. Primary data is data obtained directly through interviews at the research site. Secondary data is data obtained from agencies related to this research, namely the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), PT. Mitra Sinar Jaya, and the local community who are related to this research. In this study, the analysis used descriptive analysis of the income test. The results of this study were obtained: that the total income of broiler chicken farmers before Covid-19 was Rp.1,825,529,649/per year with an average of Rp.85,701,976/per year for each breeder and the total income of broiler breeders during Covid-19 was Rp.1,094,135,564/per year with an average of Rp.72,942,370.93 / per year for each breeder. This states that the income of broiler farmers before Covid-19 was higher than the income of broiler farmers during Covid-19. Based on the results of the study, it is suggested to farmers: 1) breeders keep trying to increase chicken weight or quality so that chicken prices can compete. 2) Broiler breeders should further develop broiler farms by increasing the number of DOCs so that they can increase sales and the income earned per period can increase. 3) the condition of the cage remains sterile so as to prevent chicken disease. 4) the company pays more attention to the chicken farms that join the company so that the chicken farmers can get a better income.
