Abstract

Plants produce secondary metabolites that have the potential as antioxidants, dyes, food aroma enhancers, insecticides and drugs. Avocado leaves contain saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, quercetin, and sugar alcohol persit which are useful for treating various diseases, one of which is to relieve gout. Ginger and Turmeric contain curcumin which has the ability to protect nerve function, cure inflammation because it contains compounds that can function as to suppress arthritis, reduce gout symptoms and excrete excess uric acid by improving blood circulation. Lemongrass contains geraniol, citronellol, citranelal, eugenol, limonene. The content of these substances makes lemongrass effective as a cholesterol-lowering. Lemongrass is eletoxification/launch digestion and uric acid laxative. The purpose of this study was to determine the physicochemical properties of the extract combination of avocado leaves, ginger, turmeric and lemongrass stems and to determine the content of secondary metabolite compounds as a result of phytochemical screening of extracts of the combination of avocado leaves, ginger, turmeric and stem of a lemongrass. This research is a laboratory experiment design which includes analysis of physicochemical properties including solubility analysis, determination of density, determination of boiling point, organoleptic analysis (taste, aroma and color) and acidity level (pH). Phytochemical component analysis included analysis of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and triterpenoids. The research results obtained: (1) The combination extract of avocado leaves, ginger, turmeric and lemongrass stems has physicochemical properties such as soluble in 96% methanol, aquades, acetone, insoluble in chloroform and slightly soluble in diethyl ether, has a density of 0,79 gr, boiling point 66.5°C, has a yellow color. Changes in taste from bitter taste, the bitter taste is reduced and there is a spicy taste to the spicy taste increases, the aroma from the very pungent aroma becomes pungent and the acidity level of is pH 6. (2) The combination of avocado leaves extract, ginger, turmeric and stem of a lemongrass contains a group of secondary metabolites including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins and triterpenoids.
