Abstract

This research is related to the ananalysys of mathematical problem solving abilities in terms of mathematical abilities with the aim of knowing the ability to solve mathematical problems in the material of two-variable linear aquations. This research was conducted at SMPN 5 Sulamu with three students as the subject of research where the three subjects were taken one person each from each level of high, medium and low mathematics ability. The determination of the research subject was obtained from the results of discussions with mathematics subject teachers and seeing the achievements of the three students. The data was collected through problem solving tests and interview problem solving test results. The reaults of this study indicate that students with high mathematical abilities are able to understand problem solving and can work on problem solving test questions using the four indicators well, while students with moderate and low mathematical abilities do not understand problem solving tests and cannot take solving tests using the four indicators. The results of this study are expected that the teacher can provide more motivation and attention to students with low mathematical abilities and it is hoped that the teacher will familiarize students with working on problems related to solving.
