Abstract

In the process of learning chemistry on the material reaction rate, a method is needed that can improve understanding by utilizing information and communication technology, one of which is by utilizing the screencast-o-matic (SOM) software application. Screencast-o-matic is generally a software that is generally used for making video tutorials to describe or explain learning material. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of instructional video media through screencast-o-matic media on the reaction rate material. This type of research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative, while the research instrument is in the form of a validation questionnaire given to media experts and material experts. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of this study indicate that the appropriateness of the material expert I is 80% and the material expert II is 76%, so that the average value is 78% with the feasible category. Meanwhile, media expert I was 80% and media expert II was 74%, so the average was 77% with a decent category. So the making of instructional video media through screencast-o-matic media on the reaction rate material is in the suitable category.
