Abstract

Data used in this research is pretest and posttest value data from experimental class with learning strategy of thinking ability improvement. The data gathering analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Before hypothesis testing, is done prerequisite that are normality testing to pretest data and posttest data. From the analysis results for the pretest data, the value of Asymp.Sig. (2 − ) = 0.200 > 0.05 and D = 0.101 < 0.246 = D then H0 is accepted, and it is concluded that the data is normally distributed. While the posttest data, the value of Asymp.Sig. (2 − ) = 0.184 > 0.05 and D = 0.136 < 0.246 = D then H0 received, and concluded that the data is normally distributed. Hypothesis testing using paired sample test, after analyzed data got value of Sig. (2 − ) = 0.000 < 0.05 and = −4.134 < −2,048 = − then H0 rejected, so it can be concluded that there is a significant effect learning strategy improvement capability thinking about higher order thinking skill (HOTS) of High School students. The results of this study indicate that the learning strategy improves thinking ability affect the higher order thinking skill (HOTS) students. Therefore, the authors suggest for teachers to apply learning strategies to improve thinking skills on learning in particular the learning of mathematics class in accordance with the material to be taught.
