Abstract
The thesis entitled “The Effect of Job Satisfaction and Work Environment on the Perrmance of Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station with Work Motivation as Mediating Variable” is written by Osman Hendaru, Reg. No. 8112192019MM, under the supervision of Dr. Cosmas Fernandez, SVD, MA and Yulius Yasinto SVD, MA., M.Sc. The placement of policemen as the public security and order guardian (Bhabinkamtibmas) at villages is meant to quickly handle the community problems. Based on the previous data, the target of Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station was not met yet as planned, as evidenced in August to October 2020 only 74.74%. This research aims to know 1) the description of performance, work motivation, job satisfaction and work environment at Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station; 2) the significance of effect of work motivation on performance of Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station; 3) the significance of effect of job satisfaction and work environment partially on the performance of Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station; 4) the significance of effect of job satisfaction and work environment partially on work motivation of Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station; 5) the effect of work motivation in mediating the effect of job satisfaction and work motivation on the performance of Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station. This study uses the quantitative method. The sample in this study is 65 members of Bhabinkamtibmas Kupang Police Station. The data are collected by distributing a questionnaire, and the collected data are analyzed using descriptive statistic and inferential statistic applying SmartPLS. The results of descriptive statistic analysis indicate that the performance is categorized as good, work motivation is good, job satisfaction is good and work environment is pretty good. The results of inferential statistic show that work motivation, job satisfaction and work environment have a positive and significant effect on performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction and work environment have a positive and significant effect on work motivation. The results of determination coefficient (R2) indicate that work motivation, job satisfaction, and work environment contribute 67.8% on performance; job satisfaction and workenvironment contribute 72,2% on work motivation. Based on these results, it is recommended to Bhabinkamtibmas members and the management of Kupang Police Station to enhance the work motivation, job satisfaction and work environment.
