Abstract

This study aims to describe mathematics learning, describe the mathematics learning achievement of students and find out whether or not there is an effect of the problem centered learning model on students' mathematics learning achievement on the subject of class VIII SMPK St. Theresia Disamakan Kupang 2018/2019 school year. The sample of this study was class VIIIC students who were taught to use a problem centered learning model with 28 students as the number of students obtained using simple random sampling This study used pre-experimental research with one-group pretest-posttest design. In this design the sample class is given a pretest before treatment and posttest after treatment. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS version 22 program. Before testing the hypothesis, a prerequisite test was carried out using pretest and posttest values to see the distribution of each test. From the results of the analysis of the pretest value data obtained by Asymp. Sig. (2-Tailed) = 0.200> 0.05 and Dhitung = 0.115≤Dtabel = 0.250 then H0 is accepted which means the data are normal debris. From the results of the posttest value data analysis, the Asymp. Sigvalue (2-Tailed) = 0.114> 0.05 and Dhitung= 0.149 <0.250 = Dtabel. Then accept H0 which means the data is normally distributed. Furthermore, calculating the difference in the average value of the posttest and pretest to test the hyothesis using a paired sample t-test. After the data has been analyzed, the value of Sig (2-Tailed) = 0,000 <0.05 and thitung= 22,050> 2,051 = ttabel, then accept Ha and reject H0. Based on the results of data analysis it can be concluded that (1) the implementation of mathematical learning is well implemented, (2) mathematics learning achievement is achieved with good predicate, (3) there is a significant effect of the Problem Centered Learning model on students' mathematics learning achievements in class VIII SMPK St. Theresia "Equated" Kupang 2018/2019 school year
